Exercises To Calm Your Anxious Thoughts

Feeling Anxious?

Whether you’re stressed about upcoming auditions or day to day things I’ve got some exercises to lower your stress levels.

My go to before anything big is the simple exercise of box breathing. Box breathing is a technique where you breathe in for a count of four, hold your breathe for a count of four, breathe out for four, hold for four, and then repeat as many times as needed.

Another good grounding technique is called the five senses. This practice requires you to tune in to your surroundings, seek out, and name:

Five things you can see, four things you can hear, three things you can feel, two things you can smell, and one thing you can taste

A final few grounding techniques are to simply feel your feet on the ground and tune into your body, to stretch and move your body, take deep breathes, and to listen to music.

And always remember to make and set SMART goals. These are goals that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-Bound. This will help lower overwhelming thoughts.
